| Wednesday March 15, 2006. Issue 0013, Civil war. No doubt about it. |
| In today's issue: |
| Added for Thursday: I told you. I told you that Korea was going to beat Japan, didn't I? |
| I will say it here and now. Iraq has entered civil war. No more "edges closer" or "on the verge of." They are now at war with each other and no one is in charge |
![]() |
| The AP still insists on "edges toward" but I disagree. Here. Excerpt: Iraqi authorities discovered at least 87 corpses — men shot to death execution-style — as Iraq edged closer to open civil warfare. Twenty-nine of the bodies, dressed only in underwear, were dug out of a single grave Tuesday in a Shiite neighborhood of Baghdad. Some of the bloodshed appeared to be retaliation for a bomb and mortar attack in the Sadr City slum that killed at least 58 people and wounded more than 200 two days earlier. We have been around 1000 dead a week for a month now. Iraq is lost. So, where to now, Mr. President? Iran? |

| Here. Excerpt: "The timing of this withdrawal shows there has been some kind of an arrangement [with Israel]... the American and British observers bear full responsibility for their withdrawal from Jericho prison this morning without the knowledge of the Palestinian Authority" - Aziz Dweik of Hamas, speaker of the Palestinian parliament ISRAELI troops using tanks, helicopters and bulldozers pounded the Palestinian Authority prison in Jericho yesterday, forcing the surrender of militant leader Ahmed Saadat and sparking serious disorder across the Palestinian territories. Wow, it seems that Israel wanted some front page headlines and got 'em. Have I told you my plan to find peace in that particular region i the Mid-East? Here it is: Turn Jerusalem into a Disneyland. No one will be allowed in unless they pay $50 and they have to get their asses out before 9pm... Except in the summer when the torchlight parade happens. On Fridays the Muslims get it all to themselves. Saturdays are reserved for Seventh Day Adventists and Jews and Sundays are for the Christians. The rest of the week its cotton candy and ferris wheels. No residents, no problem. We'll just get all the groups involved pissed at a multi-national instead of each other. Problem solved. |

| Aryan Brotherhood Tried for 40 Years of Prison Mayhem |
| Here. Excerpt: Murder, conspiracy to commit murder, narcotics trafficking, extortion, gambling, robbery, intimidation and assault. According to federal prosecutors, these are the crimes the Aryan Brotherhood carried out behind bars for over 40 years. The group's homicidal and corrupting tentacles, which first sprouted in 1964 in California's San Quentin prison, now reach across the country and throughout the federal prison system, alleges a newly unveiled 140-count federal indictment. In one of the largest capital punishment cases ever, the document alleges 32 murders and almost as many attempted murders. As many as 16 defendants could face the death penalty; some of them are already serving multiple life sentences. The first of several trials involves four of the alleged leaders and could last until the end of the year. My question is, what are they going to do? Put them in prison? |

| Do you realize how much rain it takes to cause significant damage in Hawaii? Shit-tons. It won't even flood on the Big Island unless we get 30" in 24hrs. Think about how much rain fell on Kauai to break a dam where it rains 440" a year just up slope from there. |
| When it's too wet in the wettest place on Earth. Excerpt: Several weeks of heavy rains may have finally taken their toll on Kauai, resulting in a deadly weather disaster. The Kaloko Dam on Kauai's north shore breeched overnight. Water raced towards a residential area, washing away several homes and killing at least one person. Farther north, officials say the Morita Dam overflowed. And on the south side of Kauai, emergency officials are keeping a close eye on the Waita Reservoir. Heavy rains filled it to near capacity. If it is breeched, residents of Koloa could be threatened by severe flash flooding. Families in the tiny town of Kilauea are unable to leave their homes. Some have evacuated to shelters. Area residents say it's like a huge tsunami washed ashore, only this wave of water came from the mountains. |

| Super computer builds virus, SkyNet is no online |

![]() |
| Seriously though, this is kinda cool. Here. Excerpt: One of the world's most powerful supercomputers has conjured a fleeting moment in the life of a virus. The researchers say the simulation is the first to capture a whole biological organism in such intricate molecular detail. The simulation pushes today's computing power to the limit. But it is only a first step. In future researchers hope that bigger, longer simulations will reveal details about how viruses invade cells and cause disease. Klaus Schulten at the University of Illinois, Urbana, and his colleagues built a computer model of the satellite tobacco mosaic virus, a tiny spherical package of RNA. |

| Serbia/Montenegro unity as fragile as a crappy pop song |
| Here. Excerpt: Tensions between Serbia and Montenegro have spilled over into the Eurovision song contest, which has a history of intense national rivalry. An argument is raging over which band should represent the federation of Serbia and Montenegro in the contest. A Montenegrin boy band called No Name won a televised competition in Belgrade to choose the best song - but they were booed by the audience, who cried foul. The Montenegrin judges on the panel were accused of tactical voting. After the vote on Saturday night the band took to the stage to sing their winning song again, but in the face of the mainly Serb audience's hostility, they soon gave up without having sung a note. The Serb runners-up, Flamingoes, then appeared to the clear delight of the audience. There was this smoking-hot Montenegran girl name Nevena came to my high school as an exchange student my senior year. I really wish that I had had the balls to have asked her out. Wow, what a woman... |

| First of all, how do adult diapers become radioactive? Second, there is actually a detection system set up for this? Third and they escaped said detection? |
| Here. Excerpt: Questions linger after radioactive material slipped by warning sensors at Casella's Washington Street trash transfer station last week -- and town officials want answers. "There are issues that need to be addressed," said Board of Health Chairman Richard Maccagnano. Casella Waste System officials told the town Friday afternoon that a truck carrying adult diapers contaminated with radioactive waste was discovered by the sensors in a load of trash that was being taken from the property. The sensors had missed the radioactive material on the way in. The load was stored in an enclosed garage at the station over the weekend, following an agreement with the company and the state Department of Public Health. According to Casella Regional Vice President Michael Wall, the material was removed yesterday morning after no radiation was detected from the trash. He was uncertain where the load was sent. The source of the radioactive waste is still unknown, said Wall. The company only tracks the source of trash hauled by its own trucks. "With third parties, we don't know where the material they're hauling is coming from," Wall said. Is it from people pooping out barium pills or something? I don't get it. I don't want to know what kind of Marvel Comic superhero we get who got their powers by rummaging through a landfill and coming into contact with glowing adult diapers. |

| Judge rules to let government see your porn searches even though the law that he is citing was struck down by the Supreme Court |
| Here. Excerpt: SAN JOSE, Calif. Mar 14, 2006 (AP)— A federal judge said Tuesday he intends to require Google Inc. to turn over some information to the Department of Justice in its quest to revive a law making it harder for children to see online pornography. U.S. District Judge James Ware did not immediately say whether the data will include words that users entered into the Internet's leading search engine. The legal showdown over how much of the Web's vast databases should be shared with the government has pitted the Bush administration against the Mountain View-based company, which resisted a subpoena to turn over any information because of user privacy and trade secret concerns. Everybody keeps saying things like, "this is to protect children from becoming involved in kiddie porn and the like." No it's not. This is a ruse by the Bush administration to eliminate even more privacy protections of the citizens of this once-great nation under the guise of keeping kids from looking at porn. Not to prevent them from becoming porn, or to protect them from pedophiles. This is a law that trumps the Constitution and was already once struck-down by the Supreme Court to prevent kids from doing the Internet-equivalent of finding their dad's Playboys. Fight it Google. |

| Crooked judge rules in favor of crooked DeLay |
| Here. (yuck, the Washington Times is the source. Vomit.) Excerpt: U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, won a legal skirmish when a court invalidated 30 prosecution subpoenas and ordered that no more be issued, reports said. A Texas State Court of Appeals ruled Monday that all prosecution subpoenas must wait until it rules on an appeal brought by the state. T he appeal, on which oral arguments will be held March 22, contests a judge's dismissal of conspiracy charges against the former U.S. House majority leader involving Texas' 2002 legislative elections. "All of those subpoenas are worthless," DeLay's lawyer, Dick DeGuerin, told the Austin (Texas) American-Statesman. DeGuerin said he would make sure all who were subpoenaed get the ruling "so they can thumb their nose" at Travis County, Texas, District Attorney Ronnie Earle. "The point here is Ronnie Earle is abusing his office," another DeLay attorney, Matt Hennessy, told the Houston Chronicle. An Earle spokesman said prosecutors, who were trying to get ready for DeLay's eventual trial, would abide by the ruling. DeLay is as slippery as an eel. I hope someone is noble enough to actually succeed in taking this crime producing slime down. |

| Dubai Ports World was lying, email found |
| Here. Excerpt: WASHINGTON - The Dubai-owned company that promised to surrender its U.S. port operations has no immediate plans to sell its U.S. subsidiary's interests at Miami's seaport, a senior executive wrote Monday in a private e-mail to business associates. Even if DP World were to sell its Miami operations to quell the congressional furor over an Arab-owned company managing major U.S. ports, "that would probably take a while," wrote Robert Scavone, a vice president for DP World's U.S. subsidiary. The e-mail, obtained by The Associated Press, added to questions raised since DP World's announcement last week that it will divest U.S. port operations it acquired when it bought London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co. Can't say I'm surprised. |

| Japan eliminated Mexico with a 6-1 beating making the US a little uneasy about its chances of moving on. Korea has to beat Japan tomorrow for the US to move on (assuming the US beats Mexico on Thursday). The Dominican Republic barely got away with one against Venezuela 2-1. Venezuela had the bases loaded in the 9th but couldn't score. Venezuela is out, DR moves on to the next round. |
