Bush is a bad man
09-24-04 By Houston Wade
HILO, HI - Many commentators on this presidential election claim that the War on Terror trumps all and
that because of this we need to re-elect Bush to office.  I disagree.  I think we would never have had
needed to wage a "War on Terror" had Gore been president these last four years.

One of the first things Bush did when he entered office was issue an executive order freeing up
hundreds of millions of dollars in frozen offshore accounts.  Over forty million of which was tied to
Ossama bin Laden and Al Qeida.  Granted, the reason Bush freed all of this capital was not to aid the
terrorists abroad; it was to aid his corporate cronies at home.  Cronies like the executive board at Enron
that had millions stashed in frozen off-shore accounts and wanted greatly to access such accounts and
to ship more American capital (much of which was gouged from customers illegally during the West
Coast energy crisis) into these accounts to avoid taxes.

Bin Laden's bank accounts aside, had Bush taken his job seriously and not vacationed as much in his
first six months of office as Clinton did in his first term, the tragedy on September 11th and the
subsequent War on Terror would not have happened.  Bush dropped the ball.  He admits that he does
not read the newspaper (sometimes he glances at the headlines), and that he not only fails to even read
the summaries of important intelligence and policy documents, he defers to instead rely on an underling
"yes man" to sum them up for him.  This is what happened with the intelligence memo that outlined the
possibility of terrorists attacks on American soil by bin Laden (the FBI's most wanted fugitive when
Clinton was in office).  National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice said that the brief was a "...historical
document."  If that was the case why was the title of the brief "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside the
US"?  I don';t see anything in that title that suggests the past tense necessary to give the impression
that that memo was historical in any way.

So, Bush cut brush on his Ranch in Crawford, choked on a pretzel, and butchered the English language,
while the FBI and CIA had received memorandums to divert intelligence gathering from Islamic terror
cells and instead to focus on more pressing evil doers like Tommy Chong (famous stoner) and his
Internet bong business.  Hey, Bush means well... Doesn't he?  No, he doesn';t.  Why would a man who
never paid attention to competent intelligence reports his first nine months in office divert a much
needed military force from Afghanistan that was suppressing the Taliban and engaged in a man-hunt for
the person responsible for 9/11 to fight a widely unsubstantiated war in Iraq?  It has been almost two
years since Bush last said the name "Ossama bin Laden"; in public.  I think it is because Ossama bin
Forgotten.

Many claim that we are now safer because other authoritarian regimes are willing to deal now that they
have witnessed what we have done in Iraq because Saddam Hussein was not willing to negotiate.  It
turns out that not only was Saddam willing to negotiate but that it was Bush that was not.  Saddam told
the truth; he had destroyed all of his weapons on mass destruction and the means in which to produce
them.  He also offered to allow inspectors from the UN back into the country to verify his dis-armorment,
Bush refused.  Colin Powell stood in front of the UN General Assembly and lied to them while presenting
evidence that was forged, some of it even plagiarized from a California undergrad's opinionated,
grammatically incorrect, historically inaccurate and source-less report for a political science class that
was found posted on the Internet via a Google search.

The truth is that nations like North Korea are not waiting to see who is elected this fall to decide whether
or not to continue with the construction of Nuclear weapons.  North Korea would not have the ability to
build Nuclear arms were it not for the current administration.  Clinton had brokered a deal that would
have shut down North Korea's heavy water reactors capable of producing weapons-grade plutonium in
exchange for light water reactors that produce no plutonium.  We also had nuclear inspectors in North
Korea to insure that all of this would take place.  Then Bush came to office and everything changed.
First, he stopped shipment on the light water reactor parts.  Then, he pulled out all of the nuclear
inspectors from North Korea so there was no one to insure that they were not building weapons.  To top
it off the Bush administration then sent Kim Jong Il $90 million in cash for some unknown reason.  Now
Bush is pulling troops from patrols in the Demilitarized Zone on the Korean peninsula to help fight the
War in Iraq.  Were in there is North Korea expected to shake in their boots?  Bush gave them every
reason and support to build WMDs and has done nothing to curtail it.

Back to this business in Iraq.  Saddam Hussein was created by those in the Bush cabinet in the 60s.  He
was supported militarily and financially by the same men through the 70s and 80s.  Have you seen the
photo of Donald Rumsfeld shaking Saddam's hand back in the 1980s?  Have you heard Bush say,
referring to Saddam, "...he gassed his own people"?  Well, that photo was taken while Rumsfeld was in
Iraq to seal a deal to ship nerve agents to Saddam for a hefty profit.  Even after the first Gulf War
Haliburton, then run by Vice President Dick Cheney, illegally did business with Iraq to the tune of $30
million by using off-shore dummy corporations.  The people in Bush's administration, Cheney, Rumsfeld,
etc...  Created the problem, compounded it to their own advantage and now they expect everyone to
trust them when they tell us they will fix it.

Bush and company have never had your best interests in mind.  They know nothing of the common man
except how to exploit him to their political and financial advantage.  They do a heck of a job of it, many
people would rather lose their jobs to Bush's economy and their children to Bush's war than have either
under Clinton's peace and prosperity.  If America re-elects Bush this November we are doomed to many
more wars fought by people drafted from our schools, jobs and homes.
Please, If you do use anything off of this site reference it back to me so that I can become famous.
 Thank You.
